Viola Davis who was born on Aug 11,1965 in St.Matthews,South Carolina,USA is an American actress and producer.Her father Dan Davis was a horse trainer and her mother Mary Alice was a maid,factory worker and homemaker.Her mother also involved in the Civil Rights Movement.She went to Rhode Island College in 1988 for her graduation in theatre major and then went to Juilliard School in 1993. She has described her childhood as having "lived in abject poverty and dysfunction" and recalled living in "rat-infested and condemned" apartments.
Amidst all the hardships she faced, she became the first black woman who was nominated for three Academy Awards and won it once.Davis though acted in a number of films and TV series got the breakthrough in 2008 when her supporting role in drama "Doubt" earned her several nominations. Then in 2010 she tasted greater success as she won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play for her role in the revival of Wilson's play Fences.
