Bill Murray




William James Murray a.k.a Bill Murray is an American actor and comedian from Evanston, Illinois. Born September 21,1950, he first hit the screens through Saturday Night Live which got him his first Emmy award. He is also famous for his appearances in comedy movies Meatballs (1979), Caddyshack (1980), Stripes (1981), Tootsie (1982), Ghostbusters (1984) and Ghostbusters II (1989). He won a Golden Globe, BAFTA Award for Best Actor and an Academy Award nomination for Best
Actor for his critically acclaimed performance in Lost in Translation (2003). He was born and raised in Illinois by his father Edward, a lumber salesman and his mother Lucille, a mail room clerk.

Bill comes from a large Roman Catholic Irish-American family, with eight siblings and his parents. He considers himself religious but has said that it doesn't have much to do with Catholicism. He does not think much of Catholicism but believes in following Christian ways of life. One of his sisters is a nun with the Adrian Dominican congregation in Michigan.

Murray is a known supporter of the Green Party, which he contributed to in the 2000 presidential campaign. He is also known to make donations to candidates like Bob Kerrey (former Governor of Nebraska) during his election to the U.S Senate in 1988. 

Who is he dating?

Murray married Margaret Kelly at the Super Bowl Sunday in Las Vegas in 1981. They later remarried for their families in Chicago and Kelly gave birth to two sons. The couple divorced in 1996 after Murray was caught having an affair with Jennifer Butler, co-actor in a number of movies like Ghostbusters and Groundhog. Murray and Butler got married in 1997 and have four sons. They filed for divorce in 2008 after Butler was accused of domestic violence, infidelity and addiction.

Murray enjoys and is an avid supporter of various sports teams like the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and Chicago Bulls and once did some guest commentary for one of the Cubs' games during the 80s. He is also a Quinnipiac University Basketball fan, being a regular at home games. He also makes it a point to donate and support in any way possible, affordable housing to the elderly and senior citizens by contribution to foundations like HOME.

Murray is infamous for his mood swings earning him the name "The Murricane." He is known for the numerous feuds he has created on set with directors, producers and fellow actors,

He accidentally broke Robert De Niro's nose during the shooting of Mad Dog and Glory (1993).
