Offset is the American rapper and songwriter, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus. He is a member of the trio band called Migos, which created an “internet phenomenon” with the single Bad and Boujee in 2017. It was in 2017 that he started dating Cardi B, the American rapper, songwriter, television personality, and actress.
Cardi B’s real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almanzar, and developed her stage name from the rum brand ‘Bacardi’, which used to be her nickname. She became popular through the videos she posted in her social media, including Vine and Instagram.
The duo worked together for the first time on January 2017, for their song, Lick. In October 2017, Offset proposed Cardi B at a live performance during the Power 99 Powerhouse concert in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Cardi B has stated in an interview that she gets motivated seeing Offset and his friends work for their band. The tabloid news website TMZ found the marriage license of Cardi B and Offset, which stated that the couple got married in September 2017 privately in their bedroom, which was later confirmed by Cardi B through her social media account.
In April 2018, she announced that they are expecting their first child, a daughter. In the beginning of 2018, there were rumors that Offset is cheating Cardi B, and later it was confirmed that he has not only cheated her, but has made a sex tape with someone else. As there were such rumors earlier also, Cardi got angry, and made a statement that it’s her with her husband versus the whole world.
Later in an interview with the Cosmopolitan, she explained about why she remained with Offset, despite of all the controversies related to him. She explained that since she is rich and talented, it is easy for her to date anyone she like. But it was the life with Offset that she wanted to make right. She said that she is trying to workout thins with. Cardi B was so tough about her decision to give Offset a second chance, that she took the stand that it is her life, not that of the public.
In August 2018, Cardi B was accused of attacking two women who worked as bartenders in a strip club. She was not physically active in the attack, but it is said that she ordered her team to do so. It is rumored that she did the attacks since she thought that one of the women was in relationship with Offset in between their married life.
In December 2018, Cardi B announced through her Instagram account that they broke up. She explained that Offset is still a good friend for her, but ‘things are not working out’ between them for a long time. Following that, Offset posted videos apologizing to Cardi B, and interrupted in her stage show. In the end of 2018, the couple appeared enjoying vacation together in Puerto Rico. After reconciliation, the couple made a lot of public appearances, making it clear that everything is fine between the two.
As a sudden decision, Cardi B filed for divorce in September 2020, giving the reason that things are not working out between them. The couple follows each other on Instagram.
