Melissa Marie Benoist, the American actress and singer, was born on 4th October 1988, at Texas, U.S. She is the daughter of Julie and Jim Benoist, a physician. She started learning various dance forms including jazz and ballet, at the age of three, and began doing community children’s theatre in her hometown.
Her debut film was Tennessee in 2008 along with singer Mariah Carey. She then made appearances in several television series, and rose to prominence after acting in the Fox musical comedy-drama series Glee (2013-2014). Her another prominent character portrayal is the titular character in the DC Comics-based superhero drama series Supergirl (2015-present).
She also did notable roles in film such as Whiplash (2014), Danny Collins (2015), The Longest Ride (2015), and Sun Dogs (2017).

In 2017, Benoist attended in Chris Wood’s website’s launch, named as “I Don’t Mind”, to share how she struggled with depression in a very young age. Later in September 2019, Benoist and Wood got married. The couple have announced that they’re expecting their first child in 2020.
