Ethan Hawke


Ethan Hawke is an American actor. Besides, he is also a writer, musician, and a director. He was born on 6th November, 1970 in Austin, Texas, United States. He is the son of insurance actuary James Steven Hawke and social worker Leslie Carole Green. His debut film is the 1985 science fiction feature Explorers. He then gave his film breakthrough performance in the 1989 drama Dead Poets Society. He starred in many other movies such as The Magnificent Seven, Before the Devil Knows You're Dead, 24 Hours to Live, Before Midnight, Born to be Blue, and Tesla, to name only a few of them. Moreover, he directed three feature films and three Off-Broadway plays. He also directed a documentary. He has been nominated for four academy awards and a Tony Award. Also, he got nominated many other times and won several other awards such as Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead, and New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Actor, to mention just a few.

Furthermore, his stepfather is even more devout. Interestingly, his great grandmother wanted him to become a priest. Ethan Hawke is currently married to Ryan Shawhughes. They got married in 2008. Ryan Shawhughes worked as a nanny for his children from his previous marriage. She then graduated from Columbia University. They have two daughters together. Prior to Shawhughes, Hawke was married to American actress and model Uma Thurman. They met in 1996 on the set of Gattaca. They got married on 1st May, 1998 and have two children together, actress Maya Hawke and Levon Hawke. In 2003, Hawke faced allegations of infidelity and the couple separated. They filed for divorce which got finalised in the year 2005.
