Tom Hanks Divorce
Tom hanks is the multitalented personality who is extremely successful, Talented and Loved by almost everyone. He has been married to Rita Wilson for a very long time. The marriage has been strong for so many years that people almost forget the actor has been married once before he was married to Rita. Tom has been married twice in his life and his first marriage was with Samantha Lewes.
Samantha Lewes and Tom Hanks were high school sweethearts. He married at a tender age of 21 on January 24, 1978 when they were in college and he revealed in an interview that his motivation toward marriage was to fight through loneliness. They had a son named Colin Lewes Dillingham, who was born in 1977 prior to their marriage. The couple got blessed with another Child, a daughter named Elizabeth Hanks in 1982. Though the young couple struggled financially, getting by "piecemeal" at times, Hanks said in an interview that having kids at 21 turned out to be the "greatest thing that ever happened" to him.
Unfortunately, Soon after, the couple started to have issues and then they got separated and got divorced in 1987. Tom himself has to face his parent divorce at very young age, as a result, he had to go through loneliness and instability. “I was looking for something I had not found as a kid, and a broken marriage meant I was sentencing my own kids to the sort of feelings I had at their age.”
His second Marriage was with Rita Wilson. Tom said himself that he felt an immediate spark when he and Wilson worked together on the set of 1985’s Volunteers. He said, ”I don't think I'll ever be lonely any more... that's how I felt when I met my wife.” He also added "When we first looked at each other there was definitely a kind of, 'Hey, this is the place!' I felt that anyway," he said. "I think the end result is that we got married for all the right reasons."
Hanks and wilson have two sons. The older one is, Chester Marlon "Chet" Hanks and the younger sibling is Truman Theodore who was born in 1995. Both Tom and Rita have been Going strong in the present.
Unfortunately, Post-divorce Samantha Lewes had a rough ride with life. She was diagnosed with bone cancer and Tom left no stone unturned to save the life of his first wife. Sadly the cancer had affected her lungs and brains. Samantha took her last breath on March 12, 2002.
