When it comes to celebrity divorces, no matter how smooth the process goes it sure creates a havoc among the supporting audience. Some people take sides between the parties, some have heated discussions about the predictability of the divorce while some just stay shocked and hope the best for the separating couple. The divorce of Ben stiller and Christine Taylor was one such divorce which surprised everyone and caused a lot of controversies.
While dating for a year and then getting married on May 13, 2000 in kauai, Hawaii, the couple announced their separation in a joint statement after 17 years of marriage.
“With tremendous love and respect for each other, and the 18 years we spent together as a couple, we have made the decision to separate,” their statement read.
The couple had two children together: a 15-year-old daughter, Ella, and an 11-year-old son, Quinlin - who both made cameo appearances in Megamind, a 2010 animated film. “Our priority will continue to be raising our children as devoted parents and the closest of friends.”

Benjamin Edward Meara Stiller, 52, made his acting debut when he was nine years old as a guest on his mother's short-lived television series, Kate McShane. His silver screen debut was empire of the sun (1987) by Steven Spielberg and his directorial debut was Reality Bites (1994) based on a script by Helen Childress which he worked and developed in two years starting from 1992 while also co-starring in it. He has written, starred in, directed/produced more than fifty films through his career while having multiple cameos in Films, TV shows and music videos. Most of the movies he starred in belongs to the genre of comedy. His big break was when MTV offered him his own show “The Ben Stiller show” containing 13 episodes and only one season, and Later Fox network offered him made another 13 episode show with the same name in 1992, in which 12 episodes aired on Fox and the 13th one was aired on comedy central in a revival in the future. The show was critically acclaimed and got an Emmy award for “Outstanding writing in a variety or music program”.
Christine Joan Taylor-Stiller, 47, started her acting career in 1989 playing lifeguard melody Hanson in Nickelodeon children’s television series “Hey Dude” which she considers was a building block in her acting career.
The couple met in L.A. in 1999 when he was developing a Pilot which she was starring in and they started dating in April. Later that year they got engaged in November while he was starring in “Meet the Parents”.
Mr Stiller and Ms Christine appeared together in- Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, Tropic Thunder, curb your enthusiasm, arrested development and both Zoolander films.
