Meg Ryan


Meg Ryan is an American actress, director and producer born in November 19th, 1961 in Fairfield, Connecticut. She is known as one the most famous actresses back in 90’s and early 2000’s because of playing several roles, most of them in romantic comedy films of that time, such as Sleepless in Seattle (1993), French Kiss (1995), You’ve Got Mail (1998) and Kate and Leopold (2001). Her debut was in George Cukor’s film, Rich and Famous (1981). She has also played several roles in television during 80’s.

There are reasons to think that Meg Was raised Catholic, and although she doesn’t make many comments about her religious trends it is known that she is based into Buddhism more than in any other religion currently. Meg married handsome Dennis Quaid on February 14th, 1991. It’s said that they fell in love while filming D.O.A. (1988). The couple had a son, Jack Quaid, born April 24th, 1992. Meg exposed in an interview after her divorce, which became final on July 16th, 2001, that the reason of it was that Quaid had been unfaithful for a long time. Years after she started a relationship with the singer-songwriter John Mellencamp. After many ruptures and arrangements, the couple finally broke up in 2015.

Meg Ryan Hobbies

Meg’s hobbies usually include helping others or leaving her mark for certain causes. She shot a documentary for PBS series, Nature, centered on the white elephants of Thailand, an endangered species. She has also made several donations to organizations like Doctors Without Borders and of defense of woman’s rights. Meg seems to be very spiritual as well, once she asked a group of Buddhist monks to bless some traditional garment to wrap them around trees, making them sainted.

“Meg Ryan” is an anagram of “Germany”, she used her grandmother’s maiden name to register in the Screen Actors Guild.

She has two childen, Jack Quaid, and Daisy True Ryan, a Chinese baby that she adopted.

Meg graduated from Bethel High School, and was elected as the Prom Queen in 1979.

Before knowing her ex-husband, Dennis Quaid, she had moved in with the actor Anthony Edwards who she knew from Pasión y Gloria (1986).

An asteroid was named after her: 8353Megryan.


Megan has Rusyn, Ruthenian, Irish and German descent.
